About NIS
Diwan's NIS (Network Information System) is our new editorial and information management system for busy publishing environments or for any application where groups of people work together on shared documents. NIS not only manages the documents but also the people working with them providing security, a hierarchy of access and messaging between users.

Flexibility
The beauty of NIS is that it keeps the logic and flexibility of manual methods whilst bringing all the benefits of a fully computerized and networked system. NIS is very scalable. From managing the whole information needs of a small group of 5 people to being part of a large system networking hundreds of people. The NIS server can be just as easily access from a local network or remotely via the internet.

NIS concentrates on the role of managing the documents used between people and can be easily configured by Diwan to work with existing publishing and archiving systems. As all documents are stored on a standard database server it is immediately ready to be moved on for long term archiving. Also, NIS can easily reincorporate archived data into its current work.

Based entirely on Java, HTML and Javascript, NIS can be easily configured to suit any customer requirements.

Open Standards
NIS is based on a standard Database and open Internet technologies to be able to integrate into almost any environment. Based on Java the NIS server can operate on many different platforms while the client works through standard internet browsers. Using Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) NIS can use many different kinds of standard SQL database as its main information server.
