Why do you write things in the "Islamic context"? Iranians have been celebrating well before Islam and it is not necessary to compare. If a mullah wants to make a comment and makes a fool of himself fine. We Iranians in opposition have not used our festivals for any "opposition" criteria. We just practised being an Iranian. It is the mullahs that have tried to stop us being Iranian.

Tell any person from any part of the Earth that there is a celebration of Spring in which the seven aspects of life are represented and they will understand. Fire, Earth, Air, Water, Animals, Plants, and Humans. Then tell Iranians about their history and what they need to do and they laugh. So you won't see The Zend-Avesta on their table as it should be. Sad.
But our science and cosmology still remains. Haftseen relates to five planets plus Moon and Sun. The Ancient Iranians' Calendar was based on Astrology, and it has survived every perverse ideology, and it is the most accurate. Our maths was the best, and thousands of years ago our Astrologers predicted many events including the birth of Christ. Magus comes from the word meaning brains.
